Intermodal Connections

Local and national authorities are seeking new ways to improve public transportation and encourage more of the regular and occasional travelers onto their services. In order to do this they need to offer convenient, reliable and safe means of travelling from A to B where A and B are not usually stops on one bus route or train line. PSI ITCS therefore provides intermodal connection management (bus to bus, bus to train or tram or any combination thereof) and passengers can now be given advance information about their next interchange – time, stop or platform number etc. This information can be displayed on vehicle, or at kiosk, or delivered via internet or SMS.

The PSI ITCS has integral interfaces for global passenger information transmission and intermodal connections compliant with the VDV 453 standard. In this way information can be shared by operators for display on each other’s vehicles.

Improved Intermodal Connections means happier passengers which in turn leads to higher numbers of public transport users, less traffic congestion, lower energy requirements and reduced carbon emissions.
