The PSI Depot Management System automates the assignment of parking positions/tracks. The system will generate a recommended allocation based upon the current real time running status and the timetable. This allocation recommendation takes into account the optimum use of bays taking account of the service schedule for that vehicle. The system prevents conflicts and the allocated bays are transmitted in advance to the approaching service so that the driver knows where to park.
In the event of technical faults the vehicle is scheduled into a maintenance bay or is repositioned out of a service bay if already in it. The system then recalculates all parking allocations against available vehicles to ensure optimum scheduled services. The assignment of parking positions/tracks can be configured to each operators needs and if a service cannot be run an alarm can be sounded.
These features mean that not only are shunting and repositioning of vehicles minimized but fewer vehicles can be required for a given level of service provision.
